Charter Communications and Cox Communications announced a definitive agreement to merge, in a transaction that valued Cox at an enterprise value of approximately $34.5 billion. [41, 46] The deal combines Charter, the largest US cable provider, with Cox's 6 million customers to create a new giant serving 37 million customers. [46] The transaction, which also involved assuming about $12 billion of Cox's debt, received FCC approval in February 2026 and closed in August 2026. [63, 41]
